This may or may not be a first but Paramount has invited uber-fan (I'd say a Trekker, not a Trekkie - yes, there's a difference) Michael Gummelt to pitch a new Star Trek series to them. His Star Trek Uncharted series would introduce a whole new crew, technology, and Enterprise. He's even outlined his dream cast, with one of those cast members supporting his vision.
